Incline Project
Several years ago, my husband bought a home in Tahoe. The house sat at the end of a cul-de-sac with hiking trails right behind it and a waterfall a short distance away. Great location! But the home was literally falling apart in some areas, like the bathrooms, where tiles were loose underfoot and laminate countertops were peeling.

Knowing that the home was not a long-term home for him, we chose to remodel with an eye on his budget. When you have a tight budget, the confines can actually increase creativity. Sourcing materials from direct sources and taking the time to compare pricing. The process can be a little time consuming at first, but there can be a huge cost benefit in taking one’s time to map out the project first with materials and labor, and then determine where one can cut back if need be, beginning the project. Almost every remodel ends up costing more than originally planned, due to unexpected issue that sometimes arise, but the more that the project is thought through in the beginning, the less chance you have of experiencing that cost surge.
